My book "Loca Motion: The Travels of Chicana/Latina Popular Culture" examines punk aesthetics in independent cultural production including performance art, music, and film. Most recently I've guest curated the bilingual exhibit American Sabor: US Latinos in Pop Music currently traveling and sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution. I'm currently assisting in transforming the 3D exhibit into a digital one (americansabor.org). I also participate in community music making with the Seattle Fandango Project which is linked to transnational/translocal Fandango Sin Fronteras Project where I play the jarana (small stringed instrument) and dance.
