I've recently published Planned Obsolescence: Publishing, Technology, and the Future of the Humanities with NYU Press, focusing on the social and institutional changes that will be required for digital scholarly publishing to become an accepted part of academic life. I spent 13 years as a member of the English and media studies faculty at Pomona College, but have taken a leave of absence from that position to work as the first director of scholarly communication at the Modern Language Association. I have many secret plans for revolutionizing everything.
