I am from St Vincent and the Grenadines and am a Graduate Student in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University in Toronto. I also work as International Committee Coordinator for The Garifuna Heritage Foundation (TGHF) in St. Vincent. My research interests hinge on the intersections of identity, memory, performance and social movements and I focus on the circumCaribbean with a particular emphasis on my home country. Our work at TGHF includes building a multi-media archive of historical documents, relevant publications, audio-video of our arts-based workshops in our newly opened Yurumei House cultural and research centre. We are consistently trying to engage technology in this project and in our outreach to youth on the island. I hope THATcamp Caribe can be a venue to learn skills and collaborate with other regional movements and organizations who do similar work.
